The Devon and Cornwall Police Heritage Collection is a registered charity created in 2016 to take over the ownership and running of the Historic Collections of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary (previously owned by Devon and Cornwall Police). The collection, comprising archives, objects, photographs and a separate library, started life in the 1970s after a series of police force mergers. Currently held in store at Okehampton Police Station and closed to the public, it contains an estimated 80,000 items, with material dating from the early nineteenth century to the present day. Some of the archive has now been moved to the Devon Heritage Trust in Sowton and is being catalogued.

Please note that our archive and collection is not currently open to the public. Enquiries can be submitted via our contact page, but note that these are answered by volunteers working one day a week. In busy periods it may take some time to respond to emails.
